I would have to agree with this statement that the "web sites" that sell
this information DO NOT allow us to correct past mistakes.
When I first sent my gedcom into what was then the "Family Tree Maker"
website - I was told that I could "upload" corrections at any time. When
there came a time to do so and I asked how to do it, I was told to just
resubmit the tree - I asked how to take the old one down because that would
put 2 trees up with conflicting info - they said the other (mistaken
version) could not be taken down (not to mention it had already been burned
onto CD and had sold how many thousands of copies)...so I just left it
there - why confuse the pot any further.
Now, when I see something that fits, I copy it off, and then I do my own
research before it is applied to my tree. There is a lot that has been
posted with no citation at all - which means my "Likely, but have to
research to make sure" pile is getting quite large and is about to take on a
life of its own. :-)
Many Blessings,
Janet Rogers
