Dennis,
Just to possibly confuse things a bit, there was quite a group of Brethren
families who moved from the Jessamine County KY area to Montgomery County OH
in the 1810s through about 1830. Jessamine County had a large number of
Rhorer families including some of the older ones who had been born in PA or
in the Hagerstown MD area. Jacob was an exceedingly popular name for many
of these Rhorers. Do you have any idea on the birth date and parents of
Jacob Rhorer, father of David Rhorer. Although there was not an "official"
Brethren congregation in Jessamine County, Abraham Houser Sr. was of the
group who ended up in Montgomery County OH and he has been identified as
having Brethren ties. There was a Jacob Rhorer who was a preacher in
Jessamine County, and so the story goes, he was chided by the powers that he
was "too happy" in the pulpit, so he took his congregation and they all
became Church of Christ.
I thought there could possibly be a KY connection for your Jacob Rhorer, but
it is just an idea. I have a few Jacob Rhorer's in my FTM database without
a wife identified, and I am wondering if this family could fit with any of
them? The surname Rhorer is spelled both Rohrer and Rhorer in Jessamine
County, even within the same family, so spelling is of no assistance in
sorting them out.

Hello again;
If I am understanding this new info, David is Samuels brother and so
Mary Knee is Samuels mother also. If you think that mother Mary came to
Miami County, Indiana then I may be able to find something on her. But if
you believe she died in Montgomery County Ohio then you need to find a
researcher there. In going thru the census for Montgomery County I did
notice that there were many "Knees" in the area and in the 1850 census for
German Twsp., Montgomery County, Ohio there is a Samuel Rohrer living 3
doors from a Shank family.
