Hello Emmert,

Jeff Scism emailed that he had a Fox relative who had been Fuchs. It certainly makes sense. Sometimes the translation from German is less phonetically similar. One of my German PA ancestors was Joseph Hill. His name was Eichelberg in the German, which reportedly means Oak Hill, which he further shortened. Luckily the story was somehow passed down the line.
