I am researching the family of Amos Cook who was married to #1 Elizabeth Noffsinger and #2 Sabina Jane Davidson Broderick. Amos who was born in chester Co. Pa in 1809 was the son of Henry and Catherine Fouch Cook. Henry was born in Germany and Catherine of German descent. I have lots of info on Amos and his family but have little solid evidence on Henry and Catherine, especially Catherine. I think there is a possiblity that the spelling of Catherine's maiden name Fouch (pronounced like grouch) might have been mispelled or a various of another named. I have run across a Catherine Pfautz (1771) in Chester Co., PA who married a Henry Koch . She was born about the same year as my Catherine Fouch (1772). Catherine Pfautz's parents were Jacob and Mary Bach Pfautz who were members of the Coventry Twp., Chester Co., Pa Church of the Brethren. My Henry and Catherine purchased property in Chester Co., from a John and Hester Pfortz. Jacob and Mary Pfautz also had a son, John who was married to Esther Gaby. My Catherine Fouch died in 1856 and Rev. Peter Hollowbush, a Brethren minister, presided at her funeral. Two of Amos' sons, Henry and Amos Jr. who also ministers in the Church of the Brethren.
I am including a brief genealogy of the Pfautz family from rootsweb and also have the John Eby Pfautz genealogy on this family which states that Henry and Catherine Koch stayed in PA as did most of their family. No descendants are listed in his genealogy on Henry and Catherine. I have made notations in red on items of interest. If anyone has info on the Pfautz - Foutz/Fouts that this name became in OH or is researching the Amos Cook family and wants to help in my pursuit of further info on Henry and Catherine I would be glad for any assistance.
