I wish to thank Dennis for the synopsis of internet information on Emanuel
Brallier. Then, I will confess that I am the source of some of the
unverified information. I postulated a placement of Catherine Brallier Knupp
as a daughter of Emanuel Brallier to an internet site. Others have
propagated the information as factual.

Here is my research on Emanuel Brallier.

He may represent the Emanuel (born 1756 in Alsace), who was orphaned as his
parents died on the trip to America. If he was orphaned, he may have been
indentured to a Brethren family in eastern Pennsylvania.

A reference to Emanuel Bralert, (which does not make sense to me),
illustrates the confusion on early Brallier research. It shows baptism by
Elder Michael Frantz in the Conestoga Congregation.
<http://www.cob-net.org/text/genbrm16.htm>; (Therefore, I would like any
further information on a Brethren family that might have been associated
with Emanuel.)

An Emanuel Brollier was naturalized in Lancaster County, PA., between 1740
and 1773.

As further evidence of possible Brethren origins of this family, I found no
early Lutheran records (prior to 1829) which have survived about Brallier
baptisms in Somerset County, PA. This is based on my personal research.

Public data shows:
Somerset Past Vol. 12 No 4. Pg 20
1797 Tax List Somerset Township, Somerset County (Tax Mapping
Department, Klatzkin Building)
Emanual Bralier: 100 acres (8 acres cleared); Joiner; l house, 2 lots; 2
quit rents.

Whiskey Rebellion
Emanual Brallier was fined between 5 to 15 shillings for his participation
(And, he would have been "excommunicated" prior to this time by the
Brethren for owning a still.)

The official Brallier book says that Emanuel died in 1816 in Pierceton,
Indiana. The Somerset County census shows he was living alone in Jenner
Township, Somerset County, PA, in 1840.

I welcome new documentation on this interesting individual.

Donna
