Speaking of Eikenberry's, the Indiana Genealogist current issue Sept 2006 included the name of Henry "Elkenberry" among a list of Union County IN men who were excepted from the Indiana Militia of 1819, that met for at least one day a year. Most of the men from Union County were Quakers, but I suspect that Henry would be Brethren.
The Indiana Constitution Article VII Section 1st required all able bodied caucasian men 18-45 except those with conscientious objections. Several other names suggest Brethren associations. Among these are Samuel Ritter, Samuel Kingery, and perhaps Christopher Furnace and John Whitter.
