There were early Brethren in Clay Co. In fact, until the 1950s we had
an active church near Shoals. My father was pastor there. The Brethren
scattered across much of Indiana - we just didn't stay in the Brethren
Church!

> There are still Deardorffs living in the area. Along State Highway 42 in Clay County (near Center Point) are farms owned and managed by Deardorffs. This raises in my mind whether there might have been connections between early brethren in Putnam County and in Clay County, given the proximity.
