FYI

It always pays to do a http://www.google.com search. According to this web
site http://www.toneyweb.com/exchange/elma.htm The Toney Book by Henning and
Rummel has been reprinted by the Higginson Book Company (
http://www.higginsonbooks.com/tice-tupperSC2.html )which is a print on
demand publisher - they print a copy only when bought and paid for.

Merle, since you seem to be unaware of this, as co-author you might want to
ask Higginson if you get a cut of the profits. Based on a previous
discussion of copyrights (I think in 2005) this seems to violate U.S.
copyright laws which I believe states a copyright is in effect until 70
years after the death of the author whether a copyright is stated in the
book or not for books published after 1976. You can check out the U.S.
Government copyright page http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ1.html#wccc if
you feel like reading the government position.

In the Toney book, on page 190, we had Phebe Toney married to: 1/h
-----Mullis; 2/h Otis Robinson Witham and children: John, Francis,
Sarah Mullis; Adeline, Alice, Lucinda Witham. We had on Alice and her
descendents to the 1960s, but she was the only one of the children. On
page 209, we had an Opal Seals married in 1930 to a Bailey Ray Cox.
Bailey Cox was a Toney descendent, but we had no information on the Opal
Seals. Bailey's line was from John Toney, younger brother of Phebe.
Both references are in Texas/Oklahoma. Elma had another reference to
the name Seals- but I can't find it on the given page (or pages close to
it). I got our information from a Mary Lou Shaw -of Oklahoma.

Jesse lost his first wife, Eve Lybrook, during the 1832-33 Cholera
Epidemic. Anna Marilla Doran (a cousin) was hired to tend
house/children during Eve's sickness. Jesse married Anna after Eve's
death, and moved to Illinois. He bragged about splitting rails with Abe
Lincoln. One time he knocked a lawyer across the room with his cane,
when he was called a liar. He started for the California gold fields,
but son Franklin died in Missouri, and Jesse never went on (buried at
Neosho, Newton Co, MO). The children stayed in the Missouri, Oklahoma,
Texas area. Phoebe was a daughter of Jesse and Eve, and went to
Cleburne TX.

I will try to go up to Greenville to see Elma (thanks Gale), and see if
there are any more books - it was published in 1979. We have
occasionally heard of some coming up on the internet.
