Has anyone come across mention of a Manier or of a Pontius family (various
spellings) in Dauphin. Daniel Manier's obituary in the Gospel Messenger,
[13 April 1912, p. 238] read:
"Manier, Bro. Daniel, born near Harrisburg, Pa., April 10, 1834, died at
Cliffside, N.J., March 17, 1912, aged 77 years, 11 months and 7 days. At
the age of nine years he moved with his parents to Kosciusko County,
Ind. There he was married to Mariah Hamman. To this union five sons and
four daughters were born. Three sons and three daughters preceded him in
death. One daughter and two sons survive. When he was a young man he and
his wife united with the Church of the Brethren, and he remained a faithful
follower of the Master until death. Services by Levi Stoneburner. Text, 1
Cor. 15: 55.--P. F. Richcreek, North Webster, Ind."

He father (name unknown) had apparently died in PA and his mother remarried
Abraham Pontius before they moved to Indiana. Supposedly two sisters
remained behind in PA.
