Sharon,

It is true that the memberships in FOBG do not cover the costs of the
newsletter. One action to address this problem is to increase the number of
memberships so as to spread the fixed costs of production. This solution
may not totally solve the problem. If not, a possible next step would be to
raise the dues by a modest amount, modest because one of the goals of FOBG
is to keep the membership affordable for as many as possible. Another
action might be to organize FOBG as a non-profit corporation in order to
secure tax benefits for those who would like to make charitable
contributions. There may be still other ways to keep FOBG afloat.
Fortunately, FOBG has built up a modest capital surplus over the years to
cover existing operational deficits.

This is not the forum to discuss fiscal issues within FOBG, but let me say
that since I am now the FOBG president between now and the next annual
meeting, I welcome all suggestions and ideas about how to maintain the
viability and future of FOBG from members and nonmembers alike. Please
email me at

Dwayne Wrightsman
