Hello Richard.
Regarding the Antietam Congregation. It included in early times the
Beaver Creek Settlement in Maryland. Beaver Creek lay a couple miles east of
the Antietam Creek, and was a small tributary of it. Beaver Creek
settlement still exists as a Brethren Congregation today and has an ancient
stone church building. Many of the nearby Germanic houses of stone still
stand and mark this early settlement of the period of 1750-1800. Beaver
Creek is directly south of the ancient Prices Church near Waynesboro.
Prices was one of the two major centers of the Antietam Congregation, the
other one being Beaver Creek. Neither today uses the name Antietam but
trace directly back to Antietam Congregation of which they are the two
principal sub units. Emmert Bittinger
