I have read somewhere and I don't remember where that there were more German
speaking colonist than English speaking. The reason that English became the
predominate language is that the landowners along the coast spoke English.
Does anyone know for sure this is true. I know much of PA,NC and SC and
much of DE spoke German dialects. Lynn
