Dennis,
Absalom F. "A.F." Deeter b in May 1835 Miami County OH d 19 Oct 1919
Waterford CA m 22 Dec 1861 Marshall County IA, Elizabeth F. Wiltfong b
c1843 IN. They seem to have moved a good bit. In 1870 they were
enumerated in Marion Township, Marshall County IA, 1880 Iona Township,
Jewell County KS, by 1900 were separated he living then and 1910 in
Rowland Township, Los Angeles County CA. I did not find Elizabeth in
1900 but in 1910 she is in the same township living with her daughter
and son-in-law Hattie & John S. Wine.
Absalom enlisted in Co. I, 5th Iowa Cavalry on 1 Oct 1861 and mustered
out 5 Jan 1864 from Co. D, 5th Infantry. It appears that he was elected
to the ministry in the Iowa River congregation in Marshall County IA
from where he, a minister and Elizabeth were received by letter in the
Coon River congregation in Guthrie County IA 14 Jan 1877 and a year
later moved on. I suspect the move at that time was to the Limestone
congregation in Jewell County KS. He was ordained to the Eldership 26
Aug 1882 in the Washington congregation in Washington County KS and from
there moved to CA where he helped form the Covina congregation in May of
1885. I was not aware of their time in ID until reading your post. Can
you elaborate? The fact that he and Elizabeth were separated by 1900
makes it very suspect that he was removed from the ministry. I was told
he is buried in Modesto Cemetery in Modesto CA.
Their family consisted of Harvey, Vinnie wife of Philip Detrick, Joshua
Edward, Harriet/Hattie wife of John S. Wine, Mrs. Martha/Mattie Houser,
Charles, Mrs. Emma Swain and Mrs. Edna Knight. Any details concerning
these children and their mother would be greatly appreciated.

Subject: [BRE] Abaslom (A F) Deeter
Hi all,
I am trying to find out more information about elder Absalom Deeter,
also
know as A F Deeter. He was a elder in the Iowa River Church in Kansas,
then
moved to Covina, CA in 1885 to what became the failed colony of J. S
Flory. In
1889 A. F. had move to the Moscow, Idaho, and was there until at least
1890.
Does any one know where he went from there, or any about his family?
Dennis
