Elder Perry A. Arnold

Perry A., son of John and Susan Arnold, was born Nov. 17, 1864, in
Preston County, W. Va., and died Feb. 28, 1949 at the home of his son,
Calvin.

In 1888 he was united in marriage to Mariah Fike. To this union were
born five children. Bro. Arnold united with the Church of the Brethren
in 1889. He and his family moved to Lineway County, Mich., in 1892. In
1895 he was called to the ministry by the Fairview congregation. Later,
the family moved to Isabella County and there Bro Arnold was ordained to
the eldership in 1911.

His first wife passed away in 1905. He was married to Sarah Shrider in
1907, who also preceded him in death in 1947. In 1914 the Arnold family
moved into the Beaverton community. Bro. Arnold served for many years
as elder-in-charge of the Beaverton congregation and was a respected
citizen throughout the entire community.

He is survived by five children, Calvin B. of Clare, Mich., Bessie E.
Stiled of Fredericksburg, Va. Albert B. of Coleman, Mich., Effie E.
Sowle of
Eaton Rapids, Mich., and Perley L of Albion, Mich.

Funeral services were held at the Beaverton church, by the undersigned.
Burial was in Isabella County. -- Ernest R. Jehnsen, Beaverton, Mich.

Hello! Church of the Brethren.

Note: I've just made the connection to another Church
of the Brethren's early minister's. Rev. Perry A.
Arnold who had a similiar following like (my) Rev.
Perry McKimmy & his brother Rev. James William (Bill)
McKimmy with the Church of the Brethren in Lenawee
County, Michigan and then, Beaverton, Gladwin County,
Michigan. So, here's another obituary for your
records.

FORMER MINISTER PASSES AWAY

Perry A. Arnold, 84, of Beaverton, passed away at
the home of his son, Calvin, in Clare, on Monday,
February 28. Funeral services will be held at the
Brethren Church of the Brethren on Thursday afternoon
at 1:30 with the Rev. Ernest Jehnsen officiating.
Burial will be in River Lawn cemetery, Isabella
county. He will be at the Hall Funeral Home until 1
o'clock on Thursday.
Mr. Perry was born in Preston county, West
Virginia, on November 17, 1864, the son of John S. and
Susan S. Arnold. He was married there to Miss Marian
Fike on August 5, 1888. There were five children,
Calvin B. of Clare, Bessie E. Stiles of
Fredericksburg, Va., Albert B. of Coleman, Effie E.
Sowle of Eaton Rapids and Perley L. of Albion.
He became affiliated with the church in 1889, and
moved from West Virginia to Lenawee county, Michigan
in 1892. He was called too the ministry by the
Fairview congregation in 1895. The family moved to
Isabella county in 1900 and Mr. Arnold was ordained to
the full ministry in 1911. In April 1914 he became
pastor of the Beaverton church of the Brethren where
he served for a number of years.
Mrs. Arnold passed away on September 24, 1905. He
was married to Sarah Schrider May 22, 1907, who died
on August 28, 1947. Following her death Mr. Arnold
moved to Clare to make his home with his son.
