I've a bunch of questions about Abraham and Ida Whitmer Bowman after finding
this obituary in the April 18, 1946, McLouth Times:
"Obituary. Relatives of Abe Bowman, formerly of McLouth, now of Long
Beach, California, have received word of the death April 3rd of his wife,
Ida Whitmer Bowman. She was born at Covington, Ohio, October 14,
1862, and was married to Mr Bowman in 1886, had lived in Illinois,
McLouth and Reese, Kansas, before moving to California where they
have lived since 1917. Mrs. Bowman was a member of First Brethren
Church at Long Beach, whose pastor is Rev. Louis S Bauman, whom many
McLouth people will remember as an evangelist, having conducted three
evangelistic campaigns here and who officiated at the funeral. Surviving
are her husband Abe Bowman and her sister, Mrs Lettie Wohlgemuth
of Wichita, Kansas. Interment at Westminster Memorial Park at
Long Beach."
This obituary doesn't mention Abe & Ida's adopted daughter, Flossie May,
born January 26, 1896, according to the Bowman family Bible. What
happened to her? We know that Abe remarried but don't have his
2d wife's name. Nor do we know when Abe died, only that it was after
1954. Does anybody recognize these folks?
