Letha Bolender asked about Murphy and Miller connections yesterday. She
had found a Susan Miller who may be a sister to James Miller of Delaware Co IN.
I checked through the early marriages I found in Adams Co OH last week for
Miller. We wonder if Murphy was a Brethren family, even though it is not a
The presence of a Studebaker suggests that German, or Brethren, families
were in the area.
Here they are, in case someone recognizes these early settlers or can
attribute them to Brethren families.
The following marriages were found in the old deed books, compiled in one
volume as Deed Book 1-2-3. These were copied from microfilm, and the
first entry was very poor.
Nancy Miller to Sepious Abner McConnell? c 1798 (the groom's name is hard
to read, and I couldn't get a better copy)
George F Miller and Sarah Hutchason c 1803 both were called residents of KY
James Miller and Elizabeth MURPHY c 1798.
(James Miller who married Sarah Sherry was only 13 years old.)
The following marriages were found in Marriage book 1 (only the marriages
performed in Byrd township designated the township):

Elizabeth Miller and James Horn c 1803
Benjamin Painter and Catherine Miller c 1805
Elizabeth Miller (widow) and James Williams
