Very interesting subject. The Brethren Encyclopedia is silent on the
Burgart Society.

Died Suddenly in the lower Conowago district (of the brotherhood) York
county, Pa. on the 24th of February 1862, Christian Fortney, aged 83
years, 5
months and 29 days, leaving behind his companion on aged sister, and one
son and
six daughters to mourn their loss. the deceased was formerly a member of
the
Burgart Society which was disowned by he church. still he contended
heartily for
the truth as it is in Jesus; he attended our meetings very much: he
frequently
told me the brotherhood is built upon the Rock Christ Jesus. Funeral
