Dwayne,
Now that you give me additional information, I can share a bit more about
the area of Flatrock Cong. John Glick, Sr., was first a Mennonite Bishop but
likely did convert to the Brethren faith. His son John Glick, Jr. was a
strong Brethren leader in Flat Rock. The Glicks first settled north of
Forestville toward Columbia Furnace--perhaps 3-5 miles from Flatrock Church,
but in the neighborhood of the Brethren William Good family, the Dr. Henry
Neff (Brethren), and the Brethren Baughmans. This section was a very strong
Brethren community, and was part of Flatrock congregation. William Good even
built a special house to be used to accommodate the large congregations
which gathered there for Dunker services. It was "his house" so it did not
creat a problem for brethren owning a church house so early in time. This
was around 1770-1780. If the Weavers and Ohmarts lived in this community
there would have been a strong brethren influence to convert. My plat maps
for this section are not complete, so I don't record a plat for Weaver. But
I searched further south to the Rockingham Border and did not find Weavers
or Ohmarts, there where I had a more complete plat map. In the legal
documents, did Weaver affirm or swear his oath?
Sorry I can't help more--as I said, my Shen co materials are not very
strong. Emmert
