Connie, Trissels church is located about 3 miles as the crow flies to the
west of Broadway Virginia. I know the church and the location well, having
attended services there and passed it dozens of times. I am assuming that
you know that Washington Co., Md. was taken from Frederick Co.around 1777 as
I recall from memory. Abraham Houser, Sr. had settled at Beaver Creek,
around 10 miles from Burkittsville, just across the line in Frederick
Co.about 10 miles away. I once knew many Horines there years ago.
Incidentally, John [John Peter?]Tressler's estate was administered by
Barbara, his wife in Washington Co., Md. on Nov. 17, 1798. He gave half to
his widow, and the remainder was distributed to Frederick, Jacob, George,
Adam, Elizabeth Sunday, Mary, and George Sr. These papers reside in the
Hagerstown Courthouse, and carry the number T164.2.7.
Apparently, if this is the same man, he went to Kentucky and returned, or
lost his life before he returned. Of course, I don't know the year he made
that expedition with Abraham HOuser without looking it up.

Emmert - Thanks for providing this additional information on the Horines and
the Trislers settling in Frederick Co. MD. I know that Dr. Peter Trisler
led
a group of German settlers, including Abraham Houser Sr., a Brethren
minister, from Hagerstown MD to Jessamine County KY in the late 1780s-early
1790s. Do you know the location of Trissels Church in Rockingham County, VA
and about when it was established?
