I have the same info plus some other anecdotal stuff. I have a book called
The Rairigh and Rearick Families of Indiana and Armstrong Counties by
Virginia Shupe, who is a member of the Rairigh/Rairie (northern/Indiana
County) branch of the family. I can do look ups for anyone who is
interested.
Jacob was part of the northern (Indiana County) Rairigh branch. you are
correct in saying he and his children were Brethren. Big time Brethren.
several pastors, elders, deacons, in the family. His brother George "was
the first resident minister of the German Baptist (Dunkard) Church which was
established in 1830. George pursued missionary work in the local area as
well as in Ohio." (I could go on and on. let me know if anyone is
interested.)
Also, the David listed as his son is not our David. our David married a
Sarah Schall of Burrell Twp (then Allegheny Twp), Armstrong County, PA
around 1833, settled on the Schall property, built and operated a sawmill
there, and had a family of four (three of which survived to adulthood).
None moved outside of the immediate area.
I would be interested in any stray John Rarick/Rairigh/Rarich "out there".
Jacob had a brother John b 1 Sep 1786, came to Indiana County, PA, in 1803
with his parents, moved to Armstrong County around 1814. He is listed on
the 1820 Armstrong County census as having a family of two sons and three
daughters. He is not present in Armstrong or Indiana County in 1830. He
may have moved west or died. no other record of him, his wife or children.
so if you have any "lost" John Raricks out there, or any lost Rearicks in
general, send them my way. I'll try to find a "home" for him/her and let
you know what I find out.
Susan
