Doris,
Jacob Huddleston was listed on pg 466 of book listed below under: List of
Property-Holders in 1826 will be found those who were identified with the
pioneer interest of the township. A prefixed asterisk (which was in front of
Jacob's name) indicates non-residence in the year named.
"Huddleston, Jacob, No. 937; John Neville, orig. prop."
James Huddleston pg 229 Listed under Company H of Fifty-Third Ohio Volunteer
Infantry (National Guard). This regiment was organized at Camp Dennison, May
12,1864, for one hundred days, and at once left for Harper's Ferry, VA. The
greater part of May and June was consumed by the regiment in doing guard
duty at that place and along the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. In the later
part of June it was sent to Gen. Butler's forces at Bermuda Hundred, and was
there engaged in guard and picket duty. A detachment of the regiment was
engaged with the enemy of North Mills, July 3,1864, where several men were
killed. The regiment was brought home the latter part of July, and mustered
out of the service at Camp Chase. "James Huddleston, enl. Aug. 1, 1863."
James Huddleston pg 481 under The Centenary Methodist Episopal Church at
Newberry. Before 1810, Joseph Harvey was the leader of a class of Methodists
in this locality, which had among its members "James Huddleston".
Philip Huddleston pg 531 name was listed in this paragraph: The first
harness-maker was Walter McKinnie, who had a shop on the site of the present
residence of Henry Colman in 1845. How long he had it is not known. The next
one was Josiah Harvey's, where C. Legrand's hot now stand; then ? Apgar, who
had a shop in 1855. In 1859, A. V. Smith had a shop in the building now
occupied by Henry Coleman, where he worked for two or three years. In 1863,
John Rodecker had a shop in PHILIP HUDDLESTON'S barber-shop on Main Street.
He left in 1865.
That's all on the Huddleston's.
