My husband's aunt, now deceased, had a Beam line which was United Brethren. It may go back to Virginia or Maryland (not known) but hers was an ancestor who went "west". She had a Grandfather, Francis Bridgeman Beam who traveled by covered wagon with his family in 1871 to Newell Co., Kansas and settled near Esbon. They were prominent in the growth of the church and her genealogy states that pioneer preachers there were Rev. Poulsen and McMillan. The father of Francis Bridgeman Beam was Christian. Christian Beam had children thought to be Alex, Isaiah, George, Thomas, Sally and Susan Beam who married Will Moffett.

I have a Beam in my line, and coincidentally, I grew up in the Roxbury
Church of the Brethren in Johnstown. I am fairly new to the world of
genealogy and have not found it necessary to respond to anything on the
Brethren Network up until now, so please excuse my inexperience.
My Great-Grandfather was Charles Beam Zimmerman, his mother being Mary
E. Beam (B 1/29/1847-D 11/12/1865). She was the daughter of Catherine
Meyers and Christopher Isaiah Beam (B 12/25/1817-D 5/9/1868). He was a
Brethren preacher in the Quemahoming congregation in Somerset County,
PA. I have his father as Jacob Beam, who was of Scotch ancestry, but I
have nothing further on Jacob.
If any of this looks familiar, I may be able to give you some other
names and dates (siblings, etc). Nothing that I have really pertains to
the Maryland area, but you never know. Let me know if you'd like any
more information.
