Morning List,
If anyone has access to the book "Centennial Portraits of Dayton and
Montgomery County, Ohio" you can find out quite a bit on the Arnold, Crist,
Frantz and Brubaker families.
There is a nice couple of pages on these families wherein it states
that Jacob and Margaret Hoh Crist were the parents of Betsey, Barbara,
Catherine, Jacob and Susan.
I must however point out that the article has the ancestors of the
Arnold family incorrect in the biography. The Zachariah Arnold in the article
who married Abigail Miller is quoted as being the son of Samuel Arnold who
was the immigrant. This is incorrect as the immigrant was Johan George Arnold
and his wife. Also the children attributed to the immigrant are not complete.
The bio states that several of the sons of Samuel, actually John George
Arnold, went to Hampshire county Virginia and were the founders of the church
in that county which is now the Beaver Run church. What is not said is that a
sister to these brothers also went there. Daniel and Catherine Arnold Whip is
my direct ancestors.
I am constantly amazed that the Arnold family is not discussed on this
list even though he the immigrant was oen of the mor eimportant individuals
in the early formation of the church in Maryland and Virginia.
Also for those who research the Harshbarger and Rhinehart families you
will find that they trace their roots to St. Peters Lutheran church in
north-eastern Rockingham county, Va. where they originate.
