I left out half of my thinking:
The Pennsylvania/Maryland border was in dispute for many years -and the
dispute reached far up into Pennsylvania. Maryland was a Royal Colony,
Pennsylvania wa only a grant to the Penn fmily -and Maryland people pushed
it.
But anyway, for these families on the Concochegue and Antietam -they didn't
know which state (colony) they lived in -and really didn't care.
