For Northern Illinois, you might start by getting "Brethren in Northern Illinois and Wisconsin", by John Heckman and J.E. Miller, published by Brethren Publishing House in 1941. Brethren started settling in Ogle, Carroll, and Stephenson counties in the 1840's.
