There is a book titled "Highlights & Heartaches of Brethren Pioneers" by
Herman Shuman that does a wonderful job of telling about Brethren going to
Dakotas and why they left.
The primary attraction was free land promised by the US Government. The
leaving was due to harsh winters and many years of lean crops.
