My gggrandparents built a house with 2 doors in the early 1800's so that an
extended family could have their own living quarters, complete with their
own front door. Later my ggrandmother's father moved into the smaller
portion of the house, leaving the main house for his daughter and her
family. When my grandmother's brother married, he and his wife moved into
the main portion of the house and my ggrandparents went over to the smaller
living quarters. Each side of the house had access to the other side making
it convenient for the younger family to care for the older family, if need
be.
