Does anyone have anymore information on Bowman's or Caylor's lines?
My Gr. Grandfather, William Bowman, was married to Nancy Ann Caylor, born 3
Mar 1846, in Henderson Co., Ind. She was the daughter of John P. Caylor,
born 6 Aug 1800 in Loudon Co., Va.; he died in May 1879 in Udell Twsp.
Apponoose Co., Iowa, and he was buried in the Church of the Brethern Cemetary
(Fairview Cem.) His wife, mother of Nancy Ann, was Rachel Ann Moore, born 25
Dec 1800 in Ky. She died on 11 Aug 1882, and was also buried in Udell Twsp.,
Appanoose co., Iowa. John P. Caylor's father was Adam Caylor, who died in
1841, in Fayette Co., Ohio. His wife's name was Susannah......born 1775.
Rachel Ann Moore's father was George Moore born abt. 1775 in Ky. His wife,
mother of Rachel Ann, was Elizabeth Oldham, born 1780, Ky. Nancy Ann had a
sister, named Ellender Caylor who married Samuel Benge(they were also in
Appanoose Co., Iowa.)The Bowmans were first in the New York area, then in
Lancaster Co., Pa; then in Greene Co. Pa.; then in Holmes Co. Ohio, (William
Bowman was born in Holmes Co., Ohio in July, 1835) John, his father, was born
about 1801, in Germany. Was supposedly married in Washington Co., Pa. and
Died in Killbuck, Holmes Co., Ohio, about 1847. He was very hard to track.
They were dirt poor, and he left the family, destitute, from what the records
say. Sad. Anyway, his wife was Margaret Montgomery, born abt 1798 in Pa.
Her father was John Montgomery, born in Ireland. Her mother was
Margery.....b. 1787 in Ireland. There have been several genealogists
searching hard for this family for many years. It just stops with John
Bowman. Oh, John's wife, Margaret Montgomery, died on 16 Nov 1884, in Polk
Co., Iowa.
