Many German Baptist Brethren were in Ohio in the early 1800s... Southern
Ohio was organized into a district about 1858...Many came from Kentucky...
Tenn and North Carolina over land and others by flatboat down the Ohio...
Several Counties in Southern Ohio were heavily Brethren... I think
especially of Montgomery Co...
I can't say much about a United Brethren.. a group from other backgrounds
but I know there were significant numbers of them.
The Brethren (Ashland) came into being in early 1880s as the Great Divide
took place and the original German Baptist Brethren split into 3 major
groups... so there would have been churches of all the three groups.
