You are referring to Israel Daniel Rupp, the famous Pennsylvania historian.
He wrote many county histories, as well as _A Collection of upwards of
Thirty Thousand Names of German, Swiss, Dutch, French and other Immigrants
to Pennsylvania . . ._, 1856 and reprints.
He also wrote a genealogy of his own family. They were not Brethren.
