The Bean Chapel church has long been closed, and the local flock
scattered or gone to other churches. I was aable to fine only one family
in 1990 that had belonged to that church, an isolated home in the
mountains. The dogs nearly drove me off, but the widow and son served
me the most delicious boiled chicken dinner I ever ate.
The only surviving member I know of at present is Mrs. Robert Byrd, the
wife of a former and deceased pastor. She lives at the Bridgewater Home
for the Aging. She is very aged now but alert and intelligent the last
time I talked with her.
