Hi Jim;
I found the person you seek in the people of line #3. It was found on
page #342 of "The Berkey Book"
Samuel Berkey b: ca 1777 married Barbara Lenhart on 13 June 1797. Samuel
was a petitioner for guardianship for his brother Christian's children
and administrator of his estate in 1805. Samual had a son, also named
Samuel. There are no descendants of the son Samuel listed in the book.
The elder Samuel's parents were John Berkey b:ca 1745 d: 1801, r.
Somerset Co., PA. He married Susannah Whipkey.
John's father was Jacob Beirki 1698-1763 who was the immigrant. At age
35 he came to America on the ship "Hope", landing at Philadelphia on 28
August 1733.
There's more information regarding the lives of these persons but using
only one digit to type it's a lot of typing for an old codger like me.
There is also a lot of information on the siblings of these three
generations that may be of interest to you. (Seventy Two pages of them
listed on this line.)
I Could copy the pages for you if you'd like. The cost of the book (3
yrs ago) is $30.
I can get you the authors address if you want to buy a copy. It's a
bargain if your line is in it, mine isn't in it, unfortunately.
Good Luck... Ralp
