You don't state the time - probably 1850s or later. Pickaway Co OH is just
south of Columbus, on the Scioto River --Robins IA is just north of Cedar
Rapids. The National Road (US40) has gone west as far as Vandalia IL
(where it stopped), but that is going south to St Louis MO.

You have several options: a probable one is to take the National Road to
Indianapolis, then take a migration route that is followed by US136, to
Danville, Peoria, Galesburg, to Rock Island IL, cross the Mississippi and
go to Cedar Rapids (I don't know the Iowa trails!)

Some DID take the river route --down the Scioto, to Portsmouth OH, down the
Ohio River and up the Mississippi to Rock Island/Davenport.

>From Columbus OH there was an Indian Road that became a major
transportation route, it is now US33, going to Ft Wayne, Elkhart, and South
Bend IN --US 6 was a major route west -and it goes to Rock Island.

So take your pick! Do you have any documentation/stories/tales about the
route and move west?
