Merle

You identified yourself as a church historian - that's what I need! I
previously posed questions about the now inactive Brethren Cemetery near
Pasco. Shelby Co, OH. Based on info I had been given, but apparently
misunderstood, I thought there were two cemeteries in or near Pasco. I now
find out there are three, all on State Rt 29 east of Sidney. Heading east
you first come to Cedar Point Cemetery on the left. Another mile or so the
old Dunkard Cemetery is on the right. Some of the bodies from here were
removed to Cedar Point when Rt 29 was relocated some years ago. The one I
am interested in is about a half mile further on the left. It's now on
private property, between two houses, but still has part of an iron fence
standing. Most of the stones are illegible. This according to my source is
the old Brethren Cemetery, where my GGrandparents David and Elizabeth
Shoffner/Shaffner are buried, he in 1899, she some years before. The
records were supposedly held by the church in Pemberton, and supposedly
destroyed by them for some reason altho this seems highly unlikely to me.
According to family lore, David's first wife, another Elizabeth is also
buried there. Can you shed light on this? Was there a church in Pasco,
that the cemetery was part of? If so why were the records in Pemberton?
Maybe the Pasco church was destroyed or otherwise ceased to exist and the
records transferred to Pemberton? Probably if I could locate the cemetery
records, I wouldn't need the answers to all these questions!

Thanks
