I'm interested in learning more about Horners and Hoerners. I had not
connected them with Quakers and had thought of them primarily as Mennonites
and Brethren until I saw the name included on several Quaker-Roots items.
However, I am stuck on my research on Andrew Hoerner Sr., who served as a
private in the American Revolutionary forces. My records show he was born
4/19/1743 in Germany and died 10/10/1821 in Dauphin County PA, Hanover Twp.
Andrew married twice, first to a "Miss Glick/Klick" and later to her sister,
"Miss Glick/Klick." Children of the first wife, we think, were Henry Hoerner
and Melchoir or "Melcher" Hoerner. Children of the second wife thought to
be Barbara Hoerner Berst, John Hoerner (Major in the War of 1812), George
Philip Hoerner, Andrew Hoerner Jr., Anna Hoerner Ebersole, Michael Hoerner,
and William Hoerner.
My line of descent is through Andrew Jr. (b 1/17/1792, Hummelstown PA died
2/15/1847), who married first Susanna Gibble c1820 in PA 2d wife was Mary
Eby. Andrew Jr's children were Anna Hoerner Warner, John G. Hoerner, Lydia
G. Hoerner Kreider, Mary Hoerner Baulmer, Barbara G Hoerner Bowman, Susannah
G Hoerner Shelley. I'm not sure which children were Gibble descendants and
which were Eby descendants.
Does anybody recognize these folks?
