Some of us have even moved back east and become BAPTISTS, for goodness
sake! That should make it interesting for future genealogists! Speaking
from experience, I would guess that as families migrated from one one place
to another they often tried to migrate as a group and get a church
established. In cases where families migrated individually or in small
groups of less than "critical mass" I suspect they tried to find an
acceptable church with which to associate. In our case, a CBA
(Conservative Baptist of America) church was the closest thing I could find
in this area to my upbringing in the Church of the Brethren. Most Baptists
are not pacifists, but in the area of "sola scriptura" they are probably
more conservative than is the COB.
