Subject: Irish soldiers in Brazil

Seek info on 2,400 Irish from County Cork and County Waterford sent to
Brazil by Colonel William Cotter in late 1827 to fight in the army of
Dom Pedro I. They and like German mercenaries rebelled in June 1828.
Most of the Irish were sent back to Ireland in July 1828, and the
Germans were resettled elsewhere.
