Many thanks, Becky, for this posting. The PBS site is right on, as one would
expect. But listers who go to the Bradfordgeneology.org site should be
warned to proceed with caution. Lots of good information, but lots of errors
as well.
I was particular dismayed to see that the Crowell link was still spreading
the Oliver Cromwell myth. Along with "The Three Brothers" & the "Cherokee
Princess" tales, this must be among top 10 urban legends of genealogy. I've
even encountered it among modern day Crowells who descend from German
immigrants originally named Kraul.
