Dear Corinne Butler. I would love to have attended the Butler Reunion
on July 4 in Rockland,. Maine, but it is a long way for me, and I need
more advance notice. My children are coming from NY down to Maryland
over July 4 weekend, so this year it is not possible. Have you had this
gathering before? Is it a regular annual event? Always the same time
of year? Always the same place? How many usually attend (20 - 40 -
400?).
My Butler line is desc. from 1) Nicholas Butler who was living at
Martha's Vineyard, Mass ca. 1662. I understand that this Nicholas had a
son, 2) John, who married to Mary Lyne. Line continues are noted
below. This info is not verified and mostly has come via surname lists
& emails with others.
6) Benjamin Butler (1746-1829), marr. 1769 to Amy Daggett, (b. 1750).
They moved to Farmington, ME, and in 1790 Benjamin purchased Lot 23 in
Farmington Village. He and Amy had 13 children. The first ten were
born at MV prior to their move to Maine. The last three were born in
Franklin Co., Maine.
I am desc. from their 4th child, 7) Benjamin Butler (1776-1855) and his
wife Huldah Bradford. They married in Maine ca. 1800, and she was a
direct desc. of Gov. Wm. Bradford of Plymouth. They had eleven
children, all born in Franklin Co. Maine, vic. of New Sharon, Anson,
etc.
This couple were the grandparents of my great grandmother, Sarah Butler
Palmer (1834-1911). Sarah was born in Maine and went via covered wagon
to LaSalle Co. IL in 1847 where she married to Ephraim M. Palmer in
1861. Sarah did a lot of family research ca. 1890-1910 and I have all of
her original notes, letters and documents, with extensive corresp. with
her cousins and ancestors back in Maine. I would be very interested in
sharing information with anyone who is descended from these families. I
have extensive information which I can add. I am Peter Burrows, P. O.
Box 1909, Annapolis, MD 21404, (410) 263-2501 and fax.410.626.0014.
1) Nicholas Butler (1592-1671) m. Joyce Baker (1602-1679). I have a
record of one child. Likely there were more.
2) John Butler (1624-1658) m. Mary Lyne (b. ca 1629- );

Hi guys-
There will be a Butler family reunion in Maine this summer. July 5th to
be exact. It will be at the home of Mrs. Marita (Butler) Stanley. 94
Weskeag Rd., Rockland. Its near the Owls Head transportation Museum.
I'm not sure if any of you would be in the area, but it would be a
chance to compare notes, and meet family members if you are. It will
be a pot luck style picnic and people are welcome to start showing up
any time after 10AM.
Corinne Butler
