I have seen much info on this list about the descendants of Richard Bradford
and Frances Taylor. I think my Bradford's on my father's side of the family
from Walton, Newton and Rockdale Co. GA connect to this line. I am also
connected to this line of Taylors on my mother's side of the family.
Frances Taylor who married Richard Bradford was the daughter of Richard
Taylor and Sarah Barker. Richard and Sarah also had a son, John Taylor who's
daughter Elizabeth Taylor married Col. Henry Duke. At his death in 1707, John
Taylor divided the Flower Dew Hundred plantation among his children. My great
great grandmother was Mary Julia Duke Oxford and she descends from Henry Duke
and Elizabeth Taylor.
The Duke family was closely associated with and possibly related to Col.
William Byrd and are mentioned numerous times in his diaries. Some of you
Bradford's who descend from marriages between Bradfords and Byrds may also
find interesting info in the Diary of William Byrd.
On my father's side of the family, my great great grandfather was Brasil
Bradford and his wife was Tabitha (I believe her last name to be Crawford).
This is NOT Brazil Ransom Bradford who was married to Tabitha or Tolitha
Deaton and later moved to Alabama.
My Brasil Bradford was born about 1817 and first appears in Walton County GA
Census is 1850. He is listed in records from Walton, Newton and Rockdale
counties in GA as Bransinia Bradford, Brazel Bradford, Brasil Bradford, B.B.
Bradford and I believe he served as a conscript in the Civil War as Basil
Bradford. Brasil Bradford died in Rockdale Co. GA in September of 1889 and is
buried at Philadelphia Methodist Church in Conyers, Rockdale Co. GA.
Brasil and Tabitha Bradford had the following children: Henry Thomas born
abt. 1849, Marshall P. born 1855, Wilson D. born 1857, John W. born 1859,
Louis Z. born 1861, Francis born 1866, Robert E. Lee born 1868 and Mary Ellen
born 1871.
I think and am trying to prove that Brasil Bradford of Walton County GA was
the son of Timothy Bradford who married Deannah Ray in Hancock Co. GA in 1816
and was in Walton Co. GA in 1830 and 1840.
I also think and am trying to prove that this Timothy Bradford is the son of
Thomas Bradford and Sarah Ransom, which would connect my Bradford's to the
descendants of Richard Bradford and Frances Taylor.
If anyone has any info on Timothy Bradford or Brasil Bradford, it would
surely be appreciated.
Also if any of you would like more info on the Duke family or descendants of
Brasil and Tabitha (Crawford) Bradford, feel free to e-mail me and I will
share what i have.
Thanks,
Dennis
