The Biographical Dictionary of World War II Generals and Flag Officers
Bradford, Karl Slaughter (1889-1972) Born in Washington DC, on June 28, 1889. Commissioned in the cavalry from West Point in 1911. Served in the operations division of the War Department General Staff 1918-1919. Graduated from Command and General Staff School in 1926. Professor of military science and tactics at Massachusetts Agricultural College 1930-1931. Instructor at the Cavalry School 1934-1936. Graduated from the Army War College in 1937. Brigadier general in April 1941. Commanding general of 1st Cavalry Brigade 1941-1943. Deputy director of the War Department Manpower Board 1943-1946. Retired December 1946. Decorations included the Legion of Merit. Died on August 15, 1972.
