The Biographical Dictionary of World War II Generals and Flag Officers

Bradford, William Brooks (1896-1965) Born in Tallahassee, Florida, on March 15, 1896. B.S. from VMI in 1916. Commissioned in the cavalry in 1917. Graduated from Command and General Staff School in 1934. Director of department of tactics at the Cavalry School 1939-1941. Chief of Staff of 2nd Cavalry Division, 83rd Infantry Division and 33rd Infantry Division 1941-1943. Brigadier general in April 1943. Assistant division commander of 99th Infantry Division, then 25th Infantry Division 1943-1944. Commanding general of the 1st Cavalry Brigade 1945-1949. Retired in March 1953. Decorations included the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star. Died on January 17, 1965.
