FRANK BRADFORD, RETIRED FARMER DEAD AT AGE 87
Frank I. Bradford, 87, died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.[illiam]
H. Oehrke, 818 Caroline Street [Janesville, Rock Co., WI], at 7:45 p.m.
Thursday [18 Jul. 1940] after an illness of several years. He had been a
resident of Rock County for 63 years [relocating from Sheboygan Co., WI
in 1877]. Born in Plymouth [Sheboygan Co.,] Wis., Nov. 25, 1852, he was
married to Alice Waite [born Mary Alice WAITE, 1860-1938] and they
resided on a farm in the town of La Prairie [Rock Co., WI] for 33 years
before moving to Janesville in 1938. Mrs. Bradford died in April, 1938.
He attended Shopiere Congregational church.
Survivors are two sons, Wesley [Gordon] [1884-1952] and Harlan [Charles]
[1905-1993] Bradford, both of Janesville; three daughters, Mrs.
W.[illiam] H. [aka, Cecile Evelyn BRADFORD-] Oehrke [1893-1969] and Mrs.
Henry [Mae C./B. BRADFORD-] Brown [1900-1989], both of Janesville, and
Mrs. Ray [Florence BRADFORD-] Hale [1893-1949], Beloit [Rock Co., WI],
route 2; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. His wife and son,
Willard [Irvin BRADFORD] [1880-1938] both died in 1938. [There was an
additional son, Jay F. BRADFORD, 1886- c.1897].
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the
Whaley-Overton funeral home, the Rev. Guy H. Kintz, pastor of the United
Brethren church, officiating. Burial will be at Turtle cemetery [in the
family plot of the Turtle cemetery located on the South side of Creek
Rd. 1/4 mile West of Shopiere, Rock Co., WI]. Friends may call at the
funeral home Friday night.
