Richard Smith came to Pasbehague, "suburbs" of Jamestowne, Va. in 1617 or
18. The first Muster shows that he had a suit of armor and some corn. By
mid 1620's he had taken up his grant of land at Accomack on the Eastern
Shore, which he had gotten in England the year bef. arriving in America. He
married the first time at some point and had two daughters, one of whom was
Alice. The other, my ancestress (whose name escapes me at the moment!!!) m.
her step brother, Nathaniel Bradford. To my knowledge Nathaniel's mother is
not known and she evidently predeceased her 2nd husband, our Richard Smith.
Look in the book The Adventurers of Purse and Person, first edited by Hiden
and Jester and most current edition by John Frederick Dorman, for several
generations as well as in Whitelaw's wonderful book which traces shore
families through deeds.

<<Hello Bradford List,

Since my first post in August, I have found out that the Bradfords of
Worcester County, MD came there from Accomack County, Virginia. I am now
looking for information on the following wives of my known or probable
Bradford ancestors. Does anyone have any information on them?

Sarah H Tarr, wife of James Bradford 1780-1852
Sarah was b. 6/24/1785 in MD, m. James 1/30/1811 in Worcester County, MD
d. 3/25/1853 in Kentucky

Sarah, first wife of Samuel Bradford d. between 1810 and 1812

Esther Smith, probable wife of John Bradford b. c. 1690?

Tabitha, wife of John Bradford, b. c. 1660, Accomack Co, VA
They moved in 1710 to Maryland

Alice Smythe, wife of Richard Smythe, b. 1615-1625 in England, from there to
VA

As always, the women are very elusive; any clues would help.
