Good day fellow Bradford researchers,

I am new to the list and thought to introduce myself and say a few word
about my Bradford line.

We have traced our line back to the late 1700's to St. Mary's Parish,
Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, England. Thomas Bradford and his wife
Esther ????? had a large family there. I descend from their son Thomas
who appears at Spelbrook in the 1851 census. Spelbrook is a few miles
north of Sawbridgeworth but still within that parish. He married Mary
Shepherd, daughter of William Shepherd and Sarah Knight, of the same
parish. His son David moved to Islington, Middlesex, England about 1855
and worked for the Great Northern Railway until his death in 1884. He
married Emma Pinfold of Stony Stratford, Buckinghamshire and they had
five children. One child, David(2), followed in his father's footsteps
and worked for the GNR. He married Elizabeth Alice Gingell, daughter of
James Gingell and Mary Ann Erridge, in 1882 and they had David(3), Harry
and John. John died young in a Railway accident. Elizabeth Alice also
died young. David(2) remarried to Mary Cecilia Harvey and they had one
child, Jessie (female). David(3) served in the Royal Marines and
emigrated to Belleville, Ontario in 1912. He served in the Canadian
Expeditionary Force in the First World War. He married Augusta Burn,
daughter of Walter Burn and Louise Kelly, of Hackney, Essex, England.

That is our story. David(3) is my grandfather. We have no contact with
family in England despite the recent (1912) arrival of the family to
Canada. I have checked the Sawbridgeworth records and the first Thomas
and his wife Esther do not seem to have married there (c.1785). Looking
for any info on this family.

God Bless
