Thanks I am convinced, but not proved yet that Thomas , JR. b 1757 was the same
man who owner Bradford Springs and was probably Bro. of Nathaniel Bradford who
ended up with it and sold it later . I beleive that mainly because of the Sumter
Bradfords Nathaniel was the only one who could not read and write, neither could
Thomas Bn 1757 wife mary Hargraves M 1782 in Granville. The father Thomas Sr I
beleive is the one who sold out in NC in 1768 and might have passed through SC ,
but is the one with wife Sarah who died in 1811 in Hancock Co, GA. He is in
Wilkes co, GA by 1784 so unlikely to be the same Bradford Springs Thomas or to
have served in the revolution as he was bn in 1730+-. I have no proof these two
Thomas Bradfords are connected , other than being near each other on the 1808 tax
list for Hancock Co and seeming to have the same neighbors and associates.
Neither could read and write, and the Charleston, siege 1780 prisoner, I beleive
did not sign his name but that a scribe for the British did when they paroled the
prisoners. As to the Tory, all the parolees were required to sign a loyalty oath
to the crown as condition of the release , most high tailed it.

I have most of the original source material for the Charleston yearbook for 1897
that published the details of a collection at the NYC public library and I have
been there to examine the originals and they are the same as the yearbook.

I now want to see how many of the Sumter folks were captured at Charleston and
intend to compare the list of prisoners to the census and Jury lists for
1770-1810. I know the Singleton bros. were there and a Ruben Long who is a
witness to a deed with the Bradfords. The jockey club of Bradford springs (
hills of the high santee) is where it was and run by John Singleton is a who's
who of the Sumter area . The reason I beleive that Thomas Bradford is not there
is

A. he went to GA by then , and was Thomas SR. the list is for 1786 and Thomas was
in Ga by then, but I beleive Thomas to be Jr.

or B. he was of a lower social group, the others listed signed their names and he
could not read and write.

c. He didn't like to race horses

Or who knows
