I came across this gem in an eBay auction item description...if anyone has a John Bradford from Kentucky between 1800-1807, it
might be a useful clue...:
"Edward Charless, son of the first printer in the Missouri Territory, who printed the first book in the Territory of Louisiana
(later, Missouri) in 1809 and published its first newspaper, THE GAZETTE in 1808...a contemporary and acquaintance of
Meriwether Lewis during his residence in St. Louis and Governorship of the Louisiana Territory, he also, among his notable
achievements, printed the first law book and the first almanac printed in the state...Charless first worked for Matthew Carey
in Philadelphia and in 1800, moved to Lexington, Kentucky, where he worked with John Bradford on THE KENTUCKY GAZETTE...in
1807, he resided in Louisville, where he established his own printing business and published a newspaper..."
