Subject: [BRADFORD-L] Looking for HERVEY BRADFORD
Date: Tue, 26 Jan 1999 00:20:48 -0700

1. I am looking for either of the HERVEY BRADFORDs (father and son)
mentioned below.

Here is an excerpt from a sketchy genealogy which has been handed down in
my father's family: [I have added the capitals in key phrases and the
comments in brackets.]

The son of Agnes Munro and David Munro, Andrew Munro came to Virginia in 1668.
His son Andrew Munro died 1714.
His son Andrew Munro 3rd Sheriff died 1770.
His son Spence Munro, who died 1774 married Elisabeth Jones.
Their son James Monroe, born 1755, died 1831 was President of the United
States from 1817-1825. Spence Munroe also had a son who died about 1815.
His eldest daughter EMILY MUNROE married HERVEY BRADFORD.
Their son HERVEY [BRADFORD] married ELIZA STANDIFER (daughter of Jesse
Standifer M.D. an army surgeon and his wife Caroline Edwards of Louisiana
whose forbearers were prominant statesmen and leaders in the affairs of the
time). The Bradfords also figured greatly in the history of America, being
LINEAL DESCENDANTS OF GOVERNOR BRADFORD, for many years Governor of the
Plymouth Colony.
HERVEY BRADFORD AND HIS WIFE HAD FOUR CHILDREN.
Their eldest child, a daughter, Caroline Castera [my grandmother] was born
in or about 1861.
She married George Brown, in 1897.
Their eldest son, George Bradford Brown [my father] was born in [TEXAS]
[August 15] 1899.

2. The four children of the younger Hervey Bradford included my grandmother
"CASTERA BRADFORD," and her brother "RIPLEY BRADFORD."

On the internet I searched forand found both Castera and Ripley in the same
census index (for Texas), but I have misplaced the notes with the citation
of where to locate the records. I think it may have been in a CD index. I
have tried a number of my bookmarks and have been unable to hit the same
site again. Any suggestions of how to find it?
