Bartholomew Arthur (1725-81) served as a private in Capt. Charles Mill's
company under Brig.-Gen. David Waterbury. He was born in Ireland; died
in Conn..
His son:
Richard Arthur (1745-91) served as private, 1776-78, in the Conn.
militia under Capt. Ralph Stoddard and Capt. Thomas Wheeler. He was born
and died in Groton Mass. and died in Westfield Mass..
Richard Arthur was married to HANNAH BRADFORD (1741-1815), they were
married in 1771.
After Richards death Hannah Bradford Arthur and her children moved to
Lewis County New York.
I would enjoy hearing more about the company's this father and son
served in. I have no idea where Bartholomew died, his wifes first name
was Mercy but thats all we know. Richard may have worked as a ships
carpenter for Capt. Moses or his son Capt Jonathan Bush. They built the
ships the "Trumbull" and the "Bourbon". The Bush family also found its
way to Lewis County New York. Would anyone know what happened to either
of these ships???
Hannah Bradford was the daughter of Abner Bradford.
