The first of my line of Bradfords to arrive in Mecklenburg County, NC in 1766
was David. He came with his wife, Mary Lancaster, from York County Pa. via
Joppa Towne, MD. He brought with him a letter from John Strain, pastor of
Donegal Presbyterian Church,York County, Pa. stating that David and Mary had
been members in good standing of that congregation and had been gone several
years. They had four sons. James, settled here, David left no heirs. Samuel
and Michael. We have found no trace of the descendants of Samuel. Michael is
seen in the 1800s in Polk County, Tn and Mcminn Cty, Tn. Does any one have
any knowledge of this family? Thank you. Mary Bradford Barry
